New Zealand Mountain Film Festival July. The festival features an impressive line up of international and New Zealand speakers.
National Snowboard and Skiing Competitions Throughout the winter from July to October.
Burton New Zealand Open August. Five days of world-class snowboarding.
Volkl New Zealand Free Ski Open The biggest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere attracts top athletes.
Merino Muster August. Cross country ski race. The race is usually held in August
Winter Games NZ - 2010 Biennial. The biggest winter sports event outside the Winter Olympics, Winter Games NZ features over 800 of the world’s top athletes competing in 26 snow sports disciplines ranging from ski racing to curling, snowboarding to skating as well as a full adaptive skiing programme.
Mountain to Mountain 12 September 2009. Top of Treble Cone to the Snow Farm Lodge. 6 stages for teams or individuals. This event is for teams and individuals who Ski, Run, Mountain bike, Kayak and Road bike from the Treble Cone Ski field to the Snow Park in Cardrona Valley.

Radio Wanaka Girls Day Out. An annual expo aimed at women of all ages. Exhibitors range from beauty to fitness, home decorating to wine and a lot more.

Wanaka Garden Club Flower Festival. Flower displays, photographic displays, floral art displays, demonstrations, plant sales.

Perfect Woman Competition A fun annual competition including events such as darning, fencing, stacking hay, backing a trailer, clearing a pool table, opening a bottle of beer with no opener etc.

Challenge Wanaka The world’s largest long-course triathlon, has been ranked third in 220 magazine’s listing of the “Top 20 Races to Do Before You Die.”

2010 Rippon Festival features reggae to rock, soul to pop, with a generous splash of electronica and dub-dixieland thrown into the mix. Rippon Vineyard, Lake Wanaka. Tickets go on sale on October 12 through Ticketek and Play It Again and have a history of selling out fast. The cost is $118.50 plus applicable fees. There are no gate sales. Capacity is 5000.
